Toby Alderweireld describes what the Tottenham dressing room was like after Bayern Munich game

Toby Alderweireld has revealed the mood and exactly what was said in the Tottenham dressing room after their 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Spurs, who took an early lead through Heung Min Son, were humiliated on their own patch and largely thanks to four from Arsenal reject Serge Gnabry, became the first British side to concede seven goals in a home European match.

And now, just like 12 months ago, Tottenham face an uphill battle to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League as they trail second-place Red Star Belgrade by two points ahead of their double header against the Serbian side over the next five weeks.

To make matters worse, top spot already looks out of Spurs’ reach, with Munich maintaining their 100 record in Group B after their victory in London and opened up a five-point gap on last seasons finalists in the process.

Speaking to Football.London, the Belgian, who was part of a Tottenham defence that totally collapsed in the latter stages, conceding five goals in the second half, said: “I think he [Pochettino] went straight to media so we were just with the lads.”

But did any of the players say anything in the dressing room?

“Of course we did not say a lot, everyone was quiet.We have to manage it as a team, be together and work hard to pick ourselves up and try to get out of this situation as quickly as possible.

“Everyone was disappointed. Tomorrow will be a day to talk more with each other. We have to stick together. No one is to blame, the team is to blame.”

Alderweireld added: “This is a hard result, we have to be honest. But we have to stick together and try to get back up as quickly as possible.”
