Mauricio Pochettino is set to make a decision on whether Tottenham should pursue a deal for Fenerbahce star Vedat Muriqi, according to reports in Turkey.
Last month, we relayed stories suggesting Spurs had scouted Muriqi while he was playing for Kosovo. The striker scored a penalty and provided two assists as his country lost 5-3 to England at St Mary’s Stadium in September. Scouts from Tottenham, Manchester United were apparently in attendance.
And now, Turkish outlet Haber7 (as relayed by Sport Witness) claims Spurs scouts have been to watch Muriqi again, attending Fenerbahce’s 1-0 home defeat to Antalyaspor in the Super Lig on Friday to get a closer look at the 25-year-old.
Muriqi obviously drew blank on the night, but he has scored three goals in seven league appearances so far this season. Haber7 believes Tottenham’s scout reports will now be looked at by Pochettino, who will make the final decision on whether the club should try to sign Muriqi.
Spurs lost Fernando Llorente on a free transfer in the summer and have since lacked a senior striker to provide back-up for Harry Kane, so a January move for Muqiri – or a similar player – would make sense.
