Heung Min Son’s South Korea remain firmly on course to continue their 100 percent record to their AFC 2022 World Cup qualification campaign.
Korea, who beat Turkmenistan 2-0 in their opener last month, are currently 5-0 up at the break against Sri Lanka in Hwaseong and it won’t come as much of a surprise that Son has been at the heart of everything in the opening period.
Son has scored just three times in his opening nine appearances for Tottenham this season, but has showed few signs of rustiness on the international stage this afternoon.
The Korean captain got the scoring underway in the 10th minute before providing an assist just seven minutes later as his side raced into a 2-0 lead.
Two more strikes put Korean four goals ahead before Son won a penalty on the stroke of half-time and picked himself up before converting from 12-yards to score his second and his sides fifth.
Should the Tottenham man bag another in the second period, it would be first international hat-trick since he scored three against Laos in the same stadium back in 2015.
