Heung Min Son has been back in the goals for South Korea in their 8-0 thrashing of Sri Lanka in their 2022 World Cup qualifier this afternoon.

The Korean captain had scored just once for his country since netting that memorable late goal in their 2-0 victory over Germany in last summer’s World Cup.

But Son returned to form on what proved to be a straightforward victory for the Group H favourites, who are already well on their way to securing their place in Qatar and sit top with two wins from two.

He opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a cool finish from the edge of the area before setting up Kim Shin-wook for the first of his four goals seven minutes later.

Son was then fouled just before half-time and stepped up to confidently roll home his 26 goal in 84 Korean appearances.

You can see Son’s three goal contributions in the video below.
