Tottenham are expected to go back in for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes in the January transfer window, according to reports in Portugal.
Fernandes was believed to be close to joining Spurs in the summer but the Londoners ultimately signed Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis instead. They may have pushed harder for Fernandes – who was also linked with Manchester United – had Christian Eriksen left the club.
And now, Portuguese outlet A Bola claims Tottenham are set to revive their interest in Fernandes when January comes around. Given there are strong suggestions Spurs are willing to sell Eriksen in January, it makes sense that they would be lining up a replacement.
Eriksen is apparently attracting interest from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus, who could all attempt to sign the Dane for a cut-price fee six months before his contract expires.
That money will hopefully go towards Fernandes or another creative midfielder, though Mauricio Pochettino might put his faith in Lo Celso to function as Eriksen’s direct replacement, spending money on other areas of the squad that require improvement.
if not a midfielder then maybe we should think about zaha as he clearly wants a move and his ability is not in question –also his club are in the market for some of our men — is this not a sound piece of business as i have not heard anything about him being difficult to manage
Why you all think Zaha is going to be any better than he is now. He is slouch, dont give a hundred percent. Moura is more than enough when silly Poch decides to play him. And your suggestion for not getting a creative mid does not make much sense, Locleso not ready, Lamela is madding in consistently. Where the creativity going to come from without Erikssen, and yes, i understand he is in la la land now but, if we dont get a local mid that knows English football we finishing 15th.
Agree – Zaha would be a great signing – wages might be sticking point though
Please Zaha, give me a break. GO pay LEICESTER what they want for Maddison
Spurs should of got him before, would of been a great signing,,
We need at least one C/H Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and get rid of the bad apples, Clearly Toby wants out , Rose, Aurier, Eriksen all need to go . Wanyama to free up the wage bill , would rather see our under23s promoted to the squad than players picking up a wage who can’t be bothered. Only Jan would I try to sign a deal but think he wants 3 year deal and Spurs are only offering 2. COYS
If spurs board had half a brain between them
they would have got maddison signed up while still playing for norwich and would have been a lot cheaper than he will be now.
