Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that summer signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon are ‘a long way off being at the level he wants right now.’

The pair have only this week returned training this week after their respected hamstring and hip injuries and have already been confirmed to miss Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow.

There was thought to be a small chance that either or both could play some part in Spurs’ Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday or in one of the two trips to Merseyside in the next fortnight, and it’s hard to know whether Pochettino was talking about their level of performance or fitness, but it doesn’t look like either player will get a taste of first-team action any time soon.

Reliable Spurs journalist from Football.London, Alasdair Gold, attended his pre-match Watford press conference that took place earlier today and questioned Pochettino about the pair.

You can see the Argentine’s blunt response in the tweet below.

  1. Its about time that Sessegnon was fit, he is a young lad and any injury other than a break should have been ready to play weeks ago, otherwise the Medical he had when signing was insufficient and costly. LoCelso, I accept was also injured at an International which should have been Compensated against. Spurs must start building the strength of players, they are far too weak and slow in build up and when defending.
Alli too is miles off the pace, Dier has been less aggresive
The time has come for a thorough New Fitness Regime. Spurs always appear to play the same old way. They are the best attacking side in the country when on form, how have they been so constrainedand their passing abysmal.
