Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has been in contact with Real Madrid for several years, according to reports in Spain.
Eriksen was heavily linked with Madrid in the summer after admitting he may seek a new challenge but ended up staying at Spurs. He has entered the final year of his contract and will be able to speak to foreign clubs about pre-contract terms in January ahead of a possible free transfer next summer.
This could be seen as tapping up, but it’s likely this sort of thing is a common occurrence in football. If a super club wants a player, they usually get them, and that’s probably because they have been speaking with said player’s representatives for a long time about a future transfer.
With that it mind, it looks increasingly likely Eriksen will move to the Bernabeu in January, unless Madrid somehow pull off a deal for Zinedine Zidane’s primary target Paul Pogba instead.
