Dele Alli immediately sent out a telling social media post after Tottenham returned to winning ways with a 5-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Spurs got their European campaign back on track with just their fourth victory in 13 games this season and moved up to second-place in Group B ahead of the return meeting in Belgrade in two weeks.

Harry Kane scored for the third Champions League game in succession before Heung Min Son bagged a first-half brace to give Tottenham breathing space at the break. Erik Lamela made it 4-0 before Kane rounded off a near-perfect evening for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Alli, who notched his first goal since January in the Premier League draw with Watford on Saturday, played 79 minutes before he was replaced by Giovani Lo Celso as he looks to rediscover the form he showed during his first three years at Tottenham.

The midfielder took to Twitter to after the game to express his feelings after a much-needed victory for Spurs.

Alli’s message was clear – “The result we needed. Onwards and upwards,” he said.
