Tottenham are battling it out with Arsenal and a host of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, to sign highly-rated Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to Sky Germany.

Spurs are likely to be in the market for another central midfielder, with Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen all expected to leave the club in either January or the summer transfer window and the fact that Mauricio Pochettino still hasn’t signed a Mousa Dembele replacement.

The 22-year-old, who impressed in Switzerland’s narrow defeat to Denmark in their EURO 2020 qualifier earlier this month, is very likely to move on from the Bundesliga outfit according to reports in Germany – and Spurs are very interested in the midfielder, along with a number of other top European clubs, which include Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

Zakaria, whose most suited position is as a defensive midfielder, has more than two-years left on his Monchengladbach contract and therefore the German side are demanding up to £50m if he’s to be temped away from Borussia-Park.
