A rather bizarre tweet from Chelsea’s official Twitter account went viral on Monday evening.

Frank Lampard’s side go into the international break 12 points above 14th-placed Tottenham in the Premier League, and the Blues appear keen to mock Spurs for the current gap between the clubs in the table.

“A look at the top 14 after 12 Premier League games!” a tweet read, accompanied by an image of the table conveniently cropped after 14 teams, which of course shows Tottenham at the very bottom.

As pointed out the London Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, publishing just the top 14 teams has no other aim but to mock Spurs’ dreadful form.

It’s certainly a bit of a strange one. White they obviously understand rivalries, official accounts don’t usually get involved in the type of ridicule supporters throw at each other.

What’s more, there is a long way to go in the season. Tottenham will have to drastically improve if they are to close the gap on Chelsea by the end of the campaign, but anything is possible.

If the reaction to the tweet is anything to go by, Spurs fans are desperate for their team to make Chelsea eat their words. See the best responses below.
