Danny Murphy reckons that Tottenham striker Harry Kane would get into Liverpool’s team ahead Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side since making the switch from the Bundesliga back in 2015, but has scored just 51 Premier League goals in almost 150 games – although the form of Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah ease any pressure.
Whereas Kane, has found the net 128 times in the league in that period and has often been regarded as the most complete number nine in world football, despite a dip over the past 12 months after a number of frustrating ankle injuries.
Kane has constantly been linked away from Tottenham to a host of top European sides – including Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid – but has continued to stay put at Spurs and signed a new long-term contract in north London before the start of last season.
However, Murphy has urged the Reds to sign Kane, although he claims it would possibly have to be for a world record fee.
“I think Harry Kane would get in Liverpool’s team ahead of Firmino, the former Premier League midfielder told said speaking Drivetime on talkSPORT. “He would score more goals.”
“I love Firmino, but he’s not Harry Kane. And with Aguero being nearly 32, I think Man City fans would welcome Harry Kane with open arms.
“Are Spurs going to make the top four? I don’t think so. Are they going to win the Champions League? No.What would he cost? That’s another question.
“It could be a world record, he’s got a phenomenal goal record.”
