Tottenham are interested in signing impressive young goalkeeper Alexander Nubel from Schalke, according to talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who is now managed by former Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner, broke into the Schalke side during the second half of last season and has been an ever-present for the Bundesliga outfit this term, who’re just three points off top.

Nubel has less 12 months remaining on his current contract and still hasn’t signed a new deal despite being offered fresh terms by the club back in August after a string of excellent performances which saw the German side finish 14th after previously flirting with relegation earlier on in the campaign.

Spurs are in desperate need in the goalkeeping department – with captain and number one Hugo Lloris still missing with a dislocated shoulder he suffered against Brighton last month, whilst Paulo Gazzaniga has looked far from the finished article since stepping into the side – with the exception of his man of the match showing against Liverpool at Anfield.
