Tottenham defender Ben Davies is set to miss number of games after suffering an ankle injury in the 3-2 victory at West Ham on Saturday.

The Welsh left-back was replaced by Danny Rose after 75 minutes at the London Stadium, an issue that forced him to miss Spurs’ Champions League game against Olympiacos last night.

Jose Mourinho failed to mentioned the injury during his post-match press conference ahead of the game, but Davies spoke to Jonathan Veal – a reliable Tottenham journalist for Press Association – in the mixed zone and admitted: “It doesn’t look good, it will be a while.”

Davies was also seen on crutches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium wearing a protective boot and looks likely to be ruled out for the entire festive period, leaving Mourinho with just one fit left-back ahead of a grueling Christmas and New Year schedule.

However, it could open the door for Jan Vertonghen – who returned to the bench after a hamstring problem last night – after his impressing showings at left-back against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this year, whilst summer signing Ryan Sessegnon has also played there a number of times during his Fulham days.
