Heung Min Son will be available for all of Tottenham’s December fixtures after he was left out of the South Korea squad for the EAFF East Asian Cup tournament which takes place in his home country next month.

Had the 27-year-old been picked, he would have missed the home game against Burnley in a fortnight, the trips to both Bayern Munich and Wolves and then possibly the visit of Chelsea on 22 December.

It’s a deserved rest for the inform forward, who has already competed in three international tournaments in the previous 18 months – the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the Asian Games less than a month later where he helped Korean win the Gold Medal against Japan which also ensured Son avoided military service and then the Asian Cup which took place in January of this year, although his side were knocked out by Qatar in the last eight.

Son will be looking to continue his excellent form when Spurs host Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in Jose Mourinho’s first Premier League game in charge since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.
