Jose Mourinho’s winning start to life as Tottenham Head Coach came to an end after his side were beaten 2-1 by his former side Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford put United ahead early in the first-half before Dele Alli continued his excellent goalscoring form with a wonderful individual effort just before the interval. But Rashford scored from the penalty spot seconds after half-time to earn United the points.
Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the day.
Paulo Gazzaniga, 5 – Made a few big saves, including one stunner from Rashford, but should have saved his opener.
Serge Aurier, 6 – Arguably Tottenham’s best player on the day. Provided a good outlet down the right and was heavily involved in Alli’s equaliser.
Davinson Sanchez, 4 – Should have done more for the opener and his passing was off all night.
Toby Alderweireld, 5 – Better than Sanchez, but not by much.
Jan Vertonghen, 4 – Unable to build off his showing on Saturday and massively struggled against the pace of Daniel James.
Harry Winks, 4 – Careless in possession and was deservedly hooked.
Moussa Sissoko, 4 – Looked like the old Moussa Sissoko, epitomised by a needless foul to concede a penalty on Rashford which led to the winner.
Dele Alli, 6 – Relatively quiet, besides a moment of magic that briefly restored parity for Spurs, but was unable to get into the game.
Lucas Moura 4 – Unable to provide a repeat of his last Old Trafford performance. Saw plenty of the ball early on, but his decision making was terrible.
Son Heung-min, 3 – Hardly involved until the latter stages, but his end product was poor.
Harry Kane, 2 – One of his worst performances in a Spurs shirt. Horrendous.
Substitutes:
Christian Eriksen 3 – Couldn’t get into the game.
Tanguy Ndombele N/A – Sloppy.
Giovani Lo Celso N/A – Not enough time.
Stupid comment on Sissoko. The penalty was soft. It was not even a tackle. He was shielding the ball. If the ref dont give it VAR would not as well.
