Harry Kane scored twice as Spurs returned to winning ways with a routine 5-0 victory over Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Tottenham skipper got the scoring underway with an early strike before Lucas Moura doubled the lead inside the opening ten minutes. Heung Min Son’s solo effort made it 3-0 on 32 minutes before Kane and Moussa Sissoko struck in the second-half to complete the rout.

Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the day.

Paulo Gazzaniga, 6 – Won’t have a quieter afternoon all season. Had nothing to do, besides a routine save from first-half Jay Rodriguez header which he easily dealt with.

Serge Aurier, 7 – Offered a great outlet down the right, although his crossing was often disappointing.

Davinson Sanchez, 7 – Made an excellent goal-line clearance from Chris Wood at 2-0 and defended well on the whole, although he remains scrappy in possession.

Toby Alderweireld, 7 – Another comfortable 90 minutes for the Belgian, who once again showed his sensational array of passing in the first-half.

Jan Vertonghen, 8 – Much better than at Old Trafford. Defended elegantly

Eric Dier, 5 – Tottenham’s worst player by quite some way. Sloppy throughout.

Moussa Sissoko, 8 – Continues to thrive under the new regime. Struck the post at the end of a flowing move in the first-half, but completed the rout with a fine second-half strike.

Dele Alli, 7 – Not as impressive as in recent weeks under Mourinho, but still managed to claim two assists.

Lucas Moura 7 – His decision-making continues to be skeptical, but got himself on the scoresheet with a close-range finish to double Tottenham’s early advantage.

Son Heung-min, 9 – A constant threat all afternoon. Set up the first for Kane before scoring a sensational solo goal just before the break, skipping past a number of Burnley players before confidently slotting past Nick Pope. He’s been a revelation recently.

Harry Kane, 9 – Back to his very clinical best. Got the ball rolling with a blistering early finish before grabbing his second with another powerful strike past Pope at the beginning of the second-half. Played a perfectly-weighed pass for Sissoko’s goal.

Substitutes:

Ryan Sessegnon, 6 – Given his first minutes under Jose Mourinho, but unable to get into the game.

Oliver Skipp N/A – Neat in possession.

Troy Parrott N/A – A moment to cherish for the 17-year-old, who was handed his Premier League debut late in the contest.

  1. Did you watch the game?
    Do you actually watch Spurs?
Dier starts first 2 league matches under Jose, after finding it difficult getting in the team this season under Poch…first wins in ages
Dropped for ManU we lose and midfield is dogshit
Restored for next League game and we win
Not as eye catching yesterday as some, but gives a much better balance to the side
Winks / Sissoko partnership doesn’t work

  2. The person who gave dier a 5 certainly has no clue about football.. He was solid and his defensive duties helped the like of son, alli, moura and sissoko to push forward with ease.. Totally shocking of a rating

  3. I was at the game and dier had decent game nothing to spectacular a proper defensive midfield player I would give him 7 out of 10
