Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is eyeing a shock January reunion with Marouane Fellaini, according to reports in France.
Fellaini left Manchester United for Chinese club Shandong Luneng Taishan back in January, just a month after Mourinho had been sacked from his post at Old Trafford. The Belgian was generally considered a flop at United, but Mourinho seemed to get the best out of him.
During their time together in Manchester, Mourinho would often call upon Fellaini to make a late impact in tight games, similar to the the way Fernando Llorente was used by Mauricio Pochettino last season.
For those reasons, Fellaini is now being linked with a move to Spurs. French outlet Les Sports claims Mourinho wants to sign the 32-year-old in the January transfer window and has already made contact.
This rumour is almost too easy to write, but it somehow feels inevitable. Tottenham have lacked the option to go direct since Llorente left for Napoli, and Fellaini would come in as a similar sort of player.
That said, it’s difficult to see Daniel Levy sanctioning a move for such a player, particularly if he demands similar wages to the mammoth salary he is likely on in China.
NNNNNNNOOOOOO, tell me that velcro head is NOT going to Spurs!
