Tottenham are set to make an official move for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi, according to reports in Turkey.
Muriqi, who has already been linked with Spurs this season, has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for Fenerbahce. He also found the net for Kosovo against England in the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Last week we relayed a report suggesting Jose Mourinho is keen to recruit capable back-up for Harry Kane up front, something the squad has lacked since Fernando Llorente left for Napoli in the summer.
Mourinho is thought to be a fan of teenager Troy Parrott, but it seems Spurs still want to sign a senior striker. And Turkish outlet Milliyet claims the Londoners have identified Muriqi as the ideal target.
The report says Tottenham are ‘preparing to make an official offer’ for the 25-year-old in the next few days. The big British newspapers are yet to pick up on the story, so it’s unclear how much truth there is to it.
There is always the concern that strikers will not want to play second fiddle to Kane, so it will be interesting to see if Muriqi is willing to spend a lot of time on the bench if he joins.
