Christian Eriksen is attracting interest from a host of clubs wanting to sign him on a free transfer next summer, but Tottenham would prefer to sell the playmaker this month.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who yesterday reported that Inter Milan have made contact with Eriksen’s representatives. The Dane has been able to speak to foreign clubs about pre-contract terms since January 1st.

It must be tempting for those clubs to bide their time and attempt to sign Eriksen for nothing, but apparently Spurs’ preference is to sell for a fee this month, which might force his suitors to make offers before the end of the transfer window.

Juventus are also said to be keen on Eriksen, while Manchester United have been heavily linked with the 27-year-old in the past.

Eriksen has started in each of Tottenham’s last two matches, scoring a sensational free-kick in the draw at Norwich City last week. However, his performances have mostly been below par and he does not appear willing to extend his contract.

The ideal result for all parties, it seems, would be for Eriksen to leave this month and for Spurs to spend the money on a replacement.

I really couldn’t have worked that one out myself, nor could thousands of other fans.
