Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko suffered an injury in the Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year’s Day – although Head Coach Jose Mourinho didn’t confirm the extend of the injury nor how long the Frenchman will be ruled out for action for.

The injury Sissoko suffered at St Mary’s forced him to miss Spurs’ FA Cup 3rd Round draw with Middlesbrough on Sunday, leaving him a doubt for the Liverpool game on Saturday.

Mourinho was asked about the injury and said: “He’s injured. I don’t know. I don’t know but injured from the game against Southampton. A ball he had with Ward-Prowse. He had it and felt it but kept playing until the end. He’s injured.”

Elsewhere, the Tottenham boss also provided a worrying update on the fitness on Harry Kane, who limped out of the draw with the Saints and is expected to miss a number of weeks with a hamstring problem.

He said: “I think it is better for the medical department to speak about it or make an official report. The only thing that I can add is that the feelings I had that it was not a small injury were correct. It is not a small injury, but I cannot speak about times.”
