Tottenham host Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend, and Jose Mourinho has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.
Long-term absentees Hugo Lloris and Ben Davies remain sidelined. On top of that, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Kane have been ruled out until April, while Tanguy Ndombele is still struggling with a hip problem.
In better news, Danny Rose has returned to training, but we think Mourinho will pick Jan Vertonghen on the left of a back four. Ryan Sessegnon has started the last couple of games but Spurs have not improved defensively, so Davinson Sanchez is likely to come back in.
Sanchez will be partnered by Toby Alderwerereld, and Serge Aurier will complete the back four sitting in front of Paulo Gazzaniga.
Mourinho is running out of options in midfield. We’re likely to see an all English midfield two of Eric Dier and Harry Winks, with Christian Eriksen slightly further forward aiming to link the midfield and attack.
After impressing from the bench against Middlesbrough, Erik Lamela will play a similar role to Eriksen. Further forward, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura will swap between playing out wide and through the middle in Kane’s absence.
Dele Alli has looked extremely tired in the last couple of games and might be a better option from the bench.
Here’s our predicted XI to face Liverpool – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments section below.
There no Dele are you crazy. If Alli fit he is going to start. Lamela or Erikssen out.
Ali instead of Erickson (who will go back with Dier instead of Winks) and put Son on the left and Lucas in the middle.
Will like a 5-3-1-1 with a low block and to hit Liverpool in the counter with long balls behind their line. The formation will help counter overload on the flanks done by overlapping TAA and Robertson in association with Salah and Mane. Suggested Spurs formation :
Gazzaniga
Aurier, Sanchez, Toby, Jan, Sessegnon
Lo Celso, Dier, Erikssen
Alli
Son
