Tottenham are considering a move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to Goal.

Spurs are said to be in the market for a striker after confirming Harry Kane will be out until April as he requires surgery on a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring. The Londoners have lacked cover for Kane since Fernando Llorente joined Napoli on a free transfer last summer.

Goal claims Tottenham are ‘looking into the possibility’ of signing Dembele this month, which suggests talks are from at an advanced stage. In any case, it seems the Frenchman is very much a potential target for Spurs.

Dembele, a France Under-21 international, has scored 13 goals in 27 appearances so far this season, including 10 in 18 Ligue 1 matches. Lyon are currently floundering in 12th place in the French top-flight, so there is a chance Dembele will consider an exit.

That said, Spurs aren’t exactly pulling up trees in the Premier League. But with a signing like Dembele, Jose Mourinho’s side may finally be able to cope without Kane.

Tottenham have also been linked with AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek – read more on the latest here.
