Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta claims the Italian giants are in talks with Christian Eriksen’s agent but says “many clubs” are keen to sign the Tottenham midfielder.

Eriksen has been strongly linked with a move to Inter in recent days. Last week, we relayed a line from trusted Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reported that Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, had held talks with Inter.

And now, Marotta has confirmed that story. As quoted by Fabrizio Romano again, Marotta said: “We’re in talks with Eriksen’s agent but there are many clubs interested in him.”

Out of contract at the end of the season, Eriksen is allowed to speak to foreign clubs about pre-contract terms ahead of a potential free transfer in the summer. But it seems Inter are eager to get a deal done now.

However, Moratta’s comments suggest the Serie A club faces competition for the Dane’s signature, though it’s not clear who the other suitors are.

Last week it was also reported that Inter might try to send midfielder Matias Vecino to Spurs as part of the Eriksen deal (via Alfredo Pedulla), so there is perhaps reason to believe Tottenham – who are currently short on fit and available central midfielders – would rather deal with Inter than another club.
