Tottenham are close to finalising a deal that will see Norwich City starlet Max Aarons join the club in the summer, according to Football Insider.

The report claims Spurs are ‘increasingly hopeful’ they have managed to lure Aarons to north London. The right-back, who has been a regular for Norwich this season, won the penalty that led to Teemu Pukki’s equaliser against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Football Insider goes on to suggest the deal has been put on hold until the summer because Norwich do not want to lose Aarons in this transfer window. The Canaries are currently bottom of the Premier League and will not want any of their top performers to leave midway through the campaign.

Serge Aurier has been an effective part of Spurs’ attack since Jose Mourinho arrived at the club, playing further forward than usual where he can get more crosses into dangerous areas. His defending, however, still leaves a lot to be desired, which might be why Mourinho is chasing a new right-back.

At just 20, Aarons has the potential to improve and become a regular for Tottenham and England in the future. Hopefully the Londoners can put the finishing touches on the deal sooner rather than later.
