Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSV to sign Netherlands winger Steven Bergwijn, according to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano revealed last night that Spurs were “one step” away from completing a move for the 22-year-old on Monday before reporting on Tuesday that Bergwijn has since arrived in London and has agreed personal terms with the club.

Bergwijn wasn’t part of the squad PSV squad that drew with FC Twente on Sunday and the Dutch giants released a statement on Twitter this morning explaining why he wouldn’t be attending training today.

It read: “Steven Bergwijn did not train with PSV on Tuesday morning. Bergwijn has received permission from PSV to travel to England with a view to an upcoming transfer.”

There has been no official announcement from either side, but Jose Mourinho looks on the verge of completing a deal for Bergwijn, who has scored five goals and provided ten assists for PSV this season – with his final appearance coming in their KNVB Cup defeat to NAC Breda on Thursday.
