Hugo Lloris has continued his excellent recent record of saving penalties by denying Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Spurs captain saved three spot-kicks in succession last season from Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Jamie Vardy and most recently Sergio Aguero in the Champions League – and produced more heroics to save the German’s effort to keep the score at 0-0.
Lloris almost conceded another penalty immediately after making the stop, but fortunately for the Frenchman, VAR hadn’t adjudged him to have fouled Raheem Sterling and Jose Mourinho’s men went into the break on level terms.
