Ryan Sessegnon has thanked Dele Alli for helping him settle in since arriving at Tottenham – and revealed that Spurs’ number 20 is his closest friend at the club.

The 19-year-old, who joined from Fulham on transfer deadline day last August, endured a difficult start to his career in north London, but since recovering from a hamstring problem he suffered whilst playing for England Under-21s in the summer, Sessegnon has grown in confidence – and has made eight appearances since Jose Mourinho became head coach, with the most recent coming in Wednesday’s 3-2 FA Cup victory over Southampton.

Sessegnon’s performances has been relitavely inconsistent – and he’s not been shy at admitting that himself – but after a shaky start to life at Spurs, he now looks at home back in the Premier League.

Tottenham have a large English contingent in the squad, including Kyle Walker-Peters – who Sessegnon has played with at England youth levels – but there is one senior player, who he sits next to in the dressing room, that he has been particularly helpful

Sessegnon told the club’s official programme for the FA Cup game against Southampton: “As soon as I came in on the first day, Dele showed me around the whole building.

“He showed me around everywhere, told me where everything was in the training ground and so, yes, he’s been a big help for me settling in.

“We don’t live too far from each other and we speak to each other a lot. We’re quite tight – he’s probably the player I’m closest to.

“Obviously everyone has been very helpful to me here, but Dele’s probably been one of the most supportive.”
