Tottenham are set to welcome back injured trio Ben Davies, Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso when they travel to Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend, according to the Daily Express.
It seems the winter break fell at the perfect time for Spurs, who have used the absence of scheduled matches to nurse those players back to fitness ahead of a crucial run of fixtures. After Villa on Sunday, the Londoners face RB Leipzig in the Champions League Round of 16 before a crunch trip to Stamford Bridge where they will take on Chelsea – a game that could have huge ramifications in the race for Champions League qualification.
And the Express claims Jose Mourinho will have Davies, Lamela and Lo Celso available for those matches.
Davies has been injured since Mourinho’s first game in charge. The Welshman impressed in the 3-2 victory against West Ham and looks set to become the first-choice left-back when he returns – Mourinho is known to prefer a defensive-minded left-back with Serge Aurier rampaging forward down the right.
Lamela and Lo Celso were surprise absentees for the FA Cup fourth round replay against Southampton, so their fitness comes as a relief to those worried the duo would join the list of long-term absentees.
