Tottenham have watched Amiens star Serhou Guirassy but are currently behind West Ham United in the race to sign the striker, according to the Sun.
Guirassy has scored eight goals in 21 appearances in the French top-flight this season, including a brace in Amiens’ 4-4 draw with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
The Sun claims Spurs representatives were at the game to see if Guirassy would be a suitable deputy for Harry Kane. The England captain will potentially be sidelined for the rest of the campaign and Tottenham need cover going into next season.
However, the report suggests West Ham are currently winning the battle to sign Guirassy, who is valued at around £20 million by Amiens. The Ligue 1 strugglers apparently want to agree a sale in the near future so that they can plan for next term.
Brighton is also mentioned as a possible destination. Of course, the Seagulls and West Ham are still fighting for their Premier League survival, so Spurs might be a more enticing prospect for Guirassy.
That said, he would likely be a guaranteed starter for the Hammers, so it would be understandable if he chose to join them instead of Tottenham.
