Victor Wanyama has thanked the Tottenham fans for their support – admitting that he will always be grateful for being given the opportunity to play for the club.
The Kenyan midfielder’s departure to MLS side Montreal Impact – who’re managed to former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry – was confirmed by Spurs on Tuesday evening before the Canadian outfit officially announced the deal less than 12 hours later on social media.
Wanyama made a total of 96 appearances since signing from Southampton in the summer of 2016 – with the bulk of those coming in an impressive first campaign – and scored seven goals, with the last of those coming in a 4-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in April, the 28-year-old’s only goal at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
You can see Wanyama’s full departure message below. He’ll wear the number two shirt for his new side and will be hoping to make his MLS debut against FC Dallas on Saturday.
