Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Norwich City star Todd Cantwell ahead of a possible summer move for the playmaker, according to Football Insider.

Cantwell, who scored his penalty in Norwich’s shootout victory at Spurs in the FA Cup on Wednesday, has impressed for the Canaries in his debut top-flight season, scoring six goals in 28 appearances for a struggling side.

Football Insider claims Tottenham are ‘heavily scouting’ the 22-year-old as they weigh up a summer deal with Norwich. The Londoners are said to know of Liverpool’s interest in Cantwell and are prepared to make ‘early moves’ in order to get their man before the Merseysiders can swoop.

Liverpool are obviously more of an enticing prospect at present, but Spurs may be able to offer Cantwell more regular first-team football, as pointed out in Football Insider’s report.

Securing Champions League football might be a key factor in luring Cantwell to north London. With that in mind, Tottenham must beat Burnley this weekend if they are to remain in a promising position to finish fourth or fifth.
