Tottenham are interested in signing Feyenoord starlet Lamare Bogarde this summer, according to Football Insider.

Bogarde, 16, is yet to make his first-team debut for Feyenoord, but Football Insider claims Spurs have received promising reports on the teenager’s performances for his club’s youth team and Holland’s Under-16s side.

This very much looks like one for the future considering he is yet to even play in the Eredivisie, which suggests he is far from ready to make the step up to senior football in the Premier League.

Bogarde can play at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder. If the report is reliable, it’s good to see Tottenham thinking about the future of their midfield, particularly from a defensive point of view.

Eric Dier’s performances in front of the back four have been concerning this season, while Harry Winks is struggling to improve the defensive side of his game. And which Victor Wanyama having left for Montreal Impact, Spurs are in need of a new holding player.

Jose Mourinho will likely be keen to sign a defensive midfielder who is immediately ready to step in, but Bogarde certainly sounds like a prospect. Though Football Insider believes Tottenham could face competition from Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Juventus and AC Milan.
