Tottenham are one of two clubs showing a serious interest in signing Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi, according to reports in Turkey.
Muriqi has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, including 13 in the Super Lig. Spurs fans may remember the 25-year-old scoring for Kosovo against England in a Euro 2020 qualifier last September.
Turkish outlet Sabah (as relayed by Sport Witness) claims Tottenham and Italian outfit Lazio will battle for Muriqi’s signature in the next transfer window. Spurs are said to be willing to bid €20 million (around £17.4m), and it is believed Lazio cannot match that offer.
If true, that means the Londoners could be in pole position to sign Muriqi. Jose Mourinho is desperate for a striker having seen his side struggle for goals in the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son in recent months.
Muriqi would essentially be a late replacement for Fernando Llorente, who joined Napoli at the end of his contract last summer. Tall and strong like the Spaniard, Muriqi would be the ideal stand-in for Kane and a useful option from the bench.
