Tottenham are ready to sell Kyle Walker-Peters this summer, according to Sky Sports.
Walker-Peters is currently on loan at Southampton, for whom he has started just once since joining in January – he was on the bench for the final two games before the Premier League was suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
An injury has played a part in his lack of game time for Southampton, but it is unclear whether the Saints want to sign him permanently at the end of his loan. In any case, Sky Sports claims Spurs are ‘prepared to sell’ the 23-year-old if and when the transfer window opens.
If he leaves, Tottenham will definitely need a new right-back for next season with Serge Aurier failing to convince and receiving no real competition for his place this term.
Walker-Peters repeatedly broke into the team under Mauricio Pochettino only to be dropped the following week, which suggests he has now been deemed unworthy of a first-team place by two consecutive managers.
Perhaps it’s best he moves on, but it’s a shame he wasn’t able to fulfil his potential in north London.
