Tottenham are interested in signing Monaco defender Guillermo Maripan, according to reports in Spain.

Maripan has only been with Monaco for one season having joined from La Liga side Alaves last summer. The centre-back made 20 league appearances this term before the Ligue 1 campaign was cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

And now, Spanish outlet AS is claiming there is interest in Marapin from the Premier League. It is believed Tottenham, West Ham United and Watford are all keen on the 26-year-old Chilean, who still has four years remaining on his contract with Monaco.

On Sunday, we relayed word from reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano concerning Spurs’ possible summer transfer business. Romano suggested Mourinho is chasing a new centre-back and there could “soon” be an update – was he hinting at confirmed interest in Marapin?

Regardless of whether the Monaco star is a target, Tottenham will surely be chasing defensive reinforcements before the start of next season. The back line has been unreliable this term, something Mourinho will be eager to change.
