Southampton’s Michael Obafemi has revealed that Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez is one of the toughest defenders that he’s come up against in the Premier League this season.
Since making the £42 million move from Ajax in the summer of 2017 – which was a club-record deal at the time – the Colombian has gone on to make 110 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, becoming a key part of their defensive line.
Having said that, Sanchez has been on the receiving end of a fair amount of criticism since making the move to the Premier League – with the 23-year-old renowned for the occasional lapse of concentration and defensive error.
However, Obafemi , who has burst on the scene for the Saints this season, featuring 19 times for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men – including three times against Spurs – ranks Sanchez as one of the best defender that he’s played against this season.
When asked who are the toughest defenders that he’s faced in the Premier League this season, the 19-year-old told the Rising Ballers FC’s Instagram account: “Fikayo Tomori, Davinson Sanchez and Van Dijk.”
