Tottenham are interested in Monaco starlet Benoit Badiashile, according to Football Insider.

The 19-year-old centre-back made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 this term before the campaign was ended prematurely because of the coronavirus pandemic. He has also played 15 times for France’s Under-19s side.

Football Insider claims Ligue 1 is facing a ‘£175m financial black hole’ because of Covid-19, meaning a number of players from the French top-flight could be available on the cheap this summer.

Spurs could apparently take advantage by setting their sights on transfer targets from France, including Badiashile. The Londoners are also said to be interested in Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier.

Earlier this week we relayed a Todofichajes story that claimed Tottenham are keen on Atletico Madrid centre-back Stefan Savic as they continue their search for Jan Vertonghen’s replacement – Vertonghen is set to leave when his contract expires next month.

From our point of view, Badiashile would be a better bit of business. Yes, at 29 years of age Savic offers more experience, but Badiashile has more potential and could make the club a huge profit in the future.
