Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino for £18m.
According to the Daily Star, the Uruguayan, who has contributed to four goals in Serie A this season as Inter look to end their 10-year wait for an Italian league title, is admired by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho – but is also wanted by both Arsenal and Everton.
Vecino first came to Tottenham’s attention when the two clubs were discussing Christian Eriksen’s move to the San Siro – although the 28-year-old ended up staying in Italy and has since featured heavily for Roberto Mancini’s side prior to the pause of football amid COVID-19.
With Victor Wanyama sold to MLS outfit Montreal Impact in March and Eric Dier expected to drop back into a more defensive role, Mourinho wants to bolster his midfield department – with Vecino, who scored an added-time winner against Spurs in last seasons Champions League, on the Portuguese’s radar.
Despite having more than three years left on his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2023, the report suggests that Inter are keen on moving him on to pave the way for new signings.
Mourinho recently admitted that Tottenham won’t be spending big in the summer window – but a deal to bring Vecino to north London for just £18m, might be too good of an opportunity to pass.
