The latest round of Premier League COVID-19 testing results have come back – and one player has tested positive for the virus.
1197 topflight players were tested on Monday and Tuesday in – and shortly after the results were released, Spurs confirmed in a statement that it was from their club, although due to medical confidentiality, the individual has not been named.
Unconfirmed whether it’s a player of coach, he will now self-isolate for seven days to keep in line with Premier League guidelines, before undergoing further testing next week.
Tottenham’s first game back is expected to be against Manchester United on the weekend of the 20/21 June, meaning the individual could now possibly be a doubt to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
According to the Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, if it’s a player, after self-isolating for seven days, he wouldn’t be allowed to rejoin his teammates at Hotspur Way for another week, which would leave little time to maintain fitness levels ahead of the clash with United.
