According to Football Insider, Erik Lamela will be given the remaining nine Premier League games this season to convince Jose Mourinho that he has a future at Tottenham.

Lamela, who is in his seventh season at the club, has endured another injury-hit campaign – making just 13 starts in all competitions, scoring four goals.

The report from the Insider suggests that if the Argentine doesn’t impress Mourinho from now until the end of the season, the north London outfit will be willing to cash in on the 28-year-old, who has just more than two years left on his current deal.

Lamela made an encouraging start to the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino – netting in the Premier League games against Manchester City and Crystal Palace – but just days after producing a scintillating display against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, he suffered a hamstring problem, which forced him to miss more than two months of action.

Since returning in December, most of Lamela’s starts have come in the FA Cup, although he did start Spurs’ last league match against Burnley in March – and will be hoping to prove his worth in Tottenham’s remaining matches as Mourinho’s side look to improve on their current eighth-place position.
