Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Watford captain Troy Deeney on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

With teenager Troy Parrott securing a season-long loan move to Millwall on Saturday, it leaves Jose Mourinho with just one recognised striker in Harry Kane for the upcoming campaign.

The Portuguese has already stated his need for another centre-forward this summer – with Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson a potential target to help Kane, who has struggled with injuries over the previous few seasons, especially with the possibility of a grueling Europa League schedule in store for Mourinho’s side.

And now, after Watford’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed after a 3-2 defeat at Arsenal last Sunday, Deeney’s future has become under threat – with the Mail reporting that Spurs have spoken to the Hornet’s about signing the 32-year-old on season-long loan.

Deeney has scored 47 goals in 163 Premier League appearances since Watford’s promotion to the topflight in 2015 and couldn’t confirm whether he’ll still be Vicarage Road next term during an interview with Sky Sports after their loss at the Emirates.

  1. Where are our Academy players ? Arsenal and Chelsea bring in young players, we send Parrot out on loan to make money for ENIC !! we are a joke of a club ………money money money ….Levy and his sycophants OUT

  2. Seriously, who do we think we are?
If we are going to carry on with a single striker down the middle (Kane), it is going to be extremely difficult to buy a top player to replace him when tested or injured, firstly because he will cost a lot of money and secondly because he won’t be happy sitting on the bench most of the time.
I believe Deeney would do more than a decent job for us and most certainly would not let us down.
We have plenty of fire power up front with Son,Moura,
Bergwijn and Alli already.Kion Étêté looks promising and hopefully Parrott will return in 12 months, matured, experienced and ready to really set us alight.
Right back, defensive midfield and a playmaker in midfield are the priorities.
