Arsenal winning an FA Cup is painful enough for Tottenham at the best of times, but their victory over Chelsea on Saturday had a significant negative impact on Jose Mourinho’s plans for the beginning of next season.
As we reported yesterday, Arsenal’s win means that Spurs now face three extra three one-legged qualifiers in order to reach the Europa League groups, whereas victory for the Blues would have put Tottenham straight into the group stage for next seasons competition – with Wolves having to go through the grueling qualifying campaign.
Tottenham’s first qualifier will take place on Thursday 17 September, which is just five days after the new Premier League season gets underway.
And ESPN’s Dale Johnson has revealed some of Tottenham’s possible opponents for their second qualifying match – and it hardly whets your appetite as Spurs return to the Europa League after a three-year absence.
Take a look at the list below – which includes potential trips to San Marino, Gibraltar, Faroe Islands and Azerbaijan.
