Tottenham are keeping tabs on Sampdoria midfielder Ronaldo Vieira, according to reports in Italy.
Vieira made 71 appearances for newly-promoted Leeds United before leaving for Sampdoria in the summer of 2018, so he is more than familiar with English football – albeit the second tier rather than the top-flight.
Italian outlet Il Secolo XIX (as relayed by Football Italia) claims Vieira is one of a handful of players Sampdoria are looking to sell this summer in order to raise funds for new signings.
And Spurs are said to be ‘keeping an eye’ on the 22-year-old’s situation ahead of a possible swoop.
Vieira was born in Guinea Bissau and played in Portugal with Benfica before moving to Leeds, where he became eligible to play for England – he has represented the Three Lions at Under-21 level on three occasions.
That means he would improve Tottenham’s homegrown quota if he were to sign, something that was also probably a factor in the recent acquisition of former England goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Spurs aren’t really in need of more depth in central midfield, but that could change if somebody is sold.
