Tottenham want to sign Milan Skriniar and have opened talks with the Inter Milan centre-back, according to Di Marzio.

The 25-year-old, who joined Inter from fellow Serie A outfit Sampdoria in 2017, is highly-rated in Italy and has made over 100 appearances in his three seasons at the San Siro.

Spurs have been linked with a possible swap deal for Skriniar involving record-signing Tanguy Ndombele, but Tottenham want to keep the Frenchman and are solely focused on Skriniar.

Mourinho has already been busy in the transfer window – making five new signings, including the captures of Real Madrid pair Sergio Regulion and Gareth Bale.

However, the Portuguese still wants defensive reinforcements – with his Tottenham side having conceded in each of their three matches this term and currently have just three fit centre-backs in Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez.

The bad news for Spurs is that according to Fabrizio Romano, Inter have set an asking-price of €60m for the Slovakian, which could see Tottenham priced out of a deal.

  1. Will be a massive upgrade on Dier. Need a centre back more than a striker in my opinion. Leaking too many goals which we need to stop, it is not good for team morale to have a leaky defence. Need to switch to a back 3 and our current central defenders cannot cut it. Rate Sanchez and Tanganga but Dier and Toby are past their best.

  2. Agree we need a central defender, preferably strong on the left foot. Dier isn’t the best option we have but to say he’s past his best is silly. He’s 26 ?

  3. We have known for a while this was the price, why would be going back to negotiate with only 1.5 weeks left of the window, if we didn’t think we could get a deal under €30m.
Ruben Dias sounds like he could be the same kind of price, although I wonder how many of these players have Jorge Mendes as their agent….
Maybe those those are the top targets, with Kim Min Jae the third option.

  4. Anytime Ive bmseen Skriniar hes honking. His highlight reel is mostly balls bouncing off him, he doesnt seem well balanced or agile or particularly fast or even particularlybgreat at defending. He wouldnt lace Vertonghen’s boots and there is a reason Inter want rid.
