Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey says Tottenham are “in for a right treat this season” after re-signing a “happier” Gareth Bale.
Bale sealed his return to Spurs on a season-long loan from Real Madrid last week, though he isn’t expected to play until after the October international break – when he should have fulled recovered from a knee injury.
The 31-year-old left Tottenham for Madrid seven years ago but is now back in north London having won a bounty of trophies in Spain.
And Ramsey, who has been Bale’s international teammate for over a decade, thinks Spurs will prosper with a re-energised Bale back in the team.
“You can see in some of the interviews he’s done, he seems a lot happier now,” the former Arsenal ace told Sky Sports (as shared by Football Daily).
“I think he just wants to go back and play football regularly and enjoy himself again. I’m sure the Premier League will be happy to have him back as well. They (Spurs) will be in for right treat this season.”
Bale also spoke to Sky Sports about his return, saying he wants to help Tottenham to progress even further than they already have in recent years.
He said: “Of course when you come into any club you want to do well, you want to help the team as much as you can.
“We have a great team here now with a great squad. They’ve been doing great. Obviously in the time that I’ve gone away they’ve gone on and on and obviously reached the Champions League final, the club’s got a new stadium, the club itself is better, they’re doing better in the Premier League every year.
“So I just want to add to that. I want to try and bring a bit more to the team and try and progress even more and keep pushing in the right direction.”
Bale is unlikely to play for Wales in the next international break as he steps up his recovery ahead of his second Tottenham debut.
That said, if he returns from injury ahead of schedule he could feature before the break, meaning Spurs might find it difficult to stop him being called up by Wales.
