Tottenham are considering a move for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon, according to the Athletic.

Signing a new centre-back appears to be the club’s only priority on deadline day, but we have already relayed word from Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein respectively that neither Milan Skriniar nor John Stones are expected to join the club today.

Instead it looks like Spurs could target Rodon. The Athletic claims Swansea value the 22-year-old Wales international at £18 million, but Tottenham will apparently attempt to sign him for less.

Premier League clubs can still sign players from the EFL – and vice versa – until October 16, meaning Tottenham could wait until the second deadline day to make their move.

Rodon is currently on international duty with Wales, for whom he has made four senior appearances, and could feature against England this week.

If the links intensify, Spurs fans will be glued to Thursday’s clash between the home nations, where Harry Kane could come up against a potential future teammate in Rodon.

  1. I know Skriniar is the finished article but if we got Rodon I would be over the moon. He will get better all the time, and could be a very very long term replacement for Jan. He really would be a great acquisition for us.
