Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Welsh defender Joe Rodon from Swansea City.

Earlier on Friday we relayed word from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claimed Spurs were still haggling over a fee for Rodon with just hours to go before the closure of the transfer window.

But Ornstein eventually broke the news that the Londoners had agreed a fee of £11 million plus £4 million in add-ons for the 22-year-old centre-back, who has signed a four-year contract with Tottenham.

All that was left was for Spurs to officially announce the deal, which they did on Friday evening some time after the 5pm deadline.

Rodon’s Wales teammates Gareth Bale and Ben Davies featured in the hilarious announcement video – watch below.

Rodon will compete with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Davison Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga for a starting spot in middle of Jose Mourinho’s back four.

Even if he isn’t immediately first pick, the Wales international is bound to get plenty of game time this season as Tottenham are likely to rotate in the Europa League.

  1. Great signing at last Spurs did well with Transfer business
BUT Erik Lamela should go he made mistake many times in his 4 matches which is unaccepted

  2. Raymond every time we got linked with a player you said it was all rubbish and Levy will never get anyone. You said it about a left back…wrong. You said it about a right back….wrong. You said it about a striker…wrong. You also said we shouldn’t sign Rodon, now we have you call it a great signing. Now “at last” we do great transfer business, have you missed the last month or so? And now you want Lamela gone? I think you’re not a Tottenham fan and just a wind up merchant.
