Player ratings: Lucas and Kane do the damage, but Vinicius poor for Tottenham against Ludogorets

Tottenham returned to winning ways in the Europa League as they cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Ludogorets in Group J.

Harry Kane and Lucas Moura put Spurs 2-0 in front inside the opening 32 minutes before Claudi Keseru reduced the deficit for the Bulgarian’s moments after the break.

However, Giovani Lo Celso restored Tottenham’s two-goal lead in the 62nd-minute as Jose Mourinho’s side got their European campaign back on track.

Here’s how we rated the players on the day:

Joe Hart, 6 – Could do nothing about Keseru’s close-range finish. Vocal as ever, though.

Matt Doherty, 7 – Solid showing from the Republic of Ireland right-back, albeit against poor opponents.

Eric Dier, 7 – Like all of the Spurs defenders, an easy night.

Toby Alderweireld, 7 – Straight-forward evening for the Belgium.

Ben Davies, 7 – Rarely troubled and supported the attack decently well.

Harry Winks, 6 – Picked out Kane with a beautifully-weighted ball over the top early on, but some of his passing generally was sloppy, and his defensive work remains questionable.

Moussa Sissoko, 7 – Did what was required of him before coming off at half-time.

Giovani Lo Celso, 7 – Mixed night for Lo Celso, who did some really encouraging things, but was also poor at times. Got himself on the scoresheet with a simple finish, however which bumps him up a mark.

Lucas Moura, 8 – Really bright performance from the Brazilian, who sent over the corner for Kane’s opener before tapping home the striker’s cross after 32 minutes from close-range.

Gareth Bale, 7 – Comfortably his best display since his return, although he faded in what turned out to be a quiet second-half for the Welshman.

Harry Kane, 8 – Uncharacteristically missed a golden chance inside the opening 90 seconds before crashing the post moments later. However, it was third time lucky for Kane, who powered home his 200th Spurs goal 13 minutes in before providing an inch-perfect assist for Moura’s. Came off at half-time with West Brom on Sunday clearly in mind.

Substitutes:

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 7 – Came on at the break and played a major part in the third goal – winning the ball back before picking out Son, who fed Lo Celso.

Carlos Vinicius, 4 – Should have opened his Tottenham account just seven minutes after his half-time introduction, but somehow lashed over from 10-yards out. Looked short on confidence from then on in and desperately needs a goal.

Heung Min Son, 7 – Replaced Lucas just past the hour-mark and took less than 20 seconds to unselfishly assist Lo Celso.

Steven Bergwijn, 6 – Almost scored with his first involvement, dragging narrowly wide of the right-hand post. Had two or three other shots, but unable to get his goal.

Tanguy Ndombele, 6 – Came on for Lo Celso and kept trying to make things happen.
