Tottenham’s Welsh trio Joe Rodon, Ben Davies and on-loan Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale have all returned negative COVID-19 tests, according to the Press Association.

Players are regularly tested, but there were fears over those three players in particular after they all came in close contact with Tottenham teammate Matt Doherty, who recently returned a positive test, in Sunday’s Nations League tie at the Cardiff City Stadium.

It means that Doherty will now miss Republic of Ireland’s game with Bulgaria tomorrow and then Spurs’ crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday as he must follow government guidelines and self-isolate for ten days.

It remains unclear whether Doherty will be available for next Thursday’s Europa League against Ludogorets or the following Sunday’s London derby at Chelsea.

But the good news for Jose Mourinho is that Bale, providing he comes through Wales’ game against Finland on Wednesday unscathed, should be fit to face Pep Guardiola’s side this weekend and then further crucial games at Chelsea and against Arsenal.
