The draw for the FA Cup fourth round has been made, and Tottenham have been haded another generous draw.
Jose Mourinho’s men cruised past eighth-tier side Marine with a convincing 5-0 on Sunday thanks to a Carlos Vinicius hat-trick and goals from Lucas Moura and Alfie Devine.
And their reward is a trip to Championship strugglers Wycombe Wanderers.
Wycombe were promoted from League One last year and currently sit rock-bottom of the second division with 15 points from 23 games.
Their objective this term will be to stay in the Championship, so they may not be hugely motivated against Spurs.
That said, Wycombe have repeatedly defied the odds under current manager Gareth Ainsworth, who very nearly led his team to an upset at White Hart Lane three years ago.
In January 2017, Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham had to come from 3-2 down to win 4-3 late on against the Wanderers, who were in League Two at the time.
Now a Championship outfit, Wycombe will arguably be better equipped to see off Spurs – but it may all depend on their priorities.
The draw for the fifth round has also been made: the winner of Wycombe vs Tottenham will play Sheffield Wednesday or Everton away.
Here’s how some Tottenham fans reacted to the draw on Twitter.
Sitting at the very bottom of the Championship. Can't complain whatsoever. We've been lucky with the draws lately ?
